Don't Start
The Engine.
We drain it. Mobile wrong fuel removal across all of Ayrshire — petrol in diesel, diesel in petrol. We come to you at the pump, at home, or by the roadside. Same day, flat rate.
⚠️ Do not start the engine. If you haven't turned the ignition, the wrong fuel is still in the tank and the fix is straightforward. Starting the engine circulates contaminated fuel through the injectors and fuel rail — turning a £150 drain into a potentially £2,000+ repair.
What to do right now
Do not start the engine
Even if you only put in a small amount. Even if the car is blocking the pump. Leave the ignition off. The tank contains the wrong fuel — that's manageable.
Move the car to safety
If you're blocking a fuel pump, push the car to a safe spot with help from forecourt staff. Leave it in neutral. Don't try to drive it even a short distance.
Call us
We're based in Ayrshire and come to you — petrol station, home, or roadside. We'll drain the contaminated fuel, flush the system, and get you back on the road.
Petrol in diesel — the most common misfuel
Around 150,000 drivers misfuel every year in the UK, and the vast majority put petrol into a diesel car. It's easy to do — petrol pump nozzles fit into most diesel filler necks, and the mistake often happens when you're distracted, in a hire car, or driving someone else's vehicle.
Petrol acts as a solvent in a diesel system. It strips the lubrication that diesel provides for the fuel pump and injectors. Even a relatively small amount — a few litres — can cause damage if the engine is run. The sooner you stop and call us, the better.
Diesel in petrol
Less common (diesel nozzles don't fit most modern petrol filler necks) but it happens with older vehicles and commercial pumps. Diesel in a petrol engine causes misfiring, heavy smoke, and stalling. Again — don't try to drive it. Call us.

Common questions
Call us immediately and don't drive the car. Starting the engine after misfuelling pushes the contaminated fuel through the injectors and high-pressure fuel pump, which can cause serious damage. We can still help — the job is more complex and the cost is higher, but it's still far cheaper than a fuel system rebuild. Turn the engine off now if it's still running.
A standard drain on a car where the engine hasn't been started takes 30–50 minutes from when we arrive. We drain the contaminated fuel, flush the lines, and add a small amount of clean fuel to get the car started so you can fill up at the pump. Larger or more complex jobs take longer.
Some comprehensive car insurance policies include misfuelling cover — check your documents. Many people claim on their insurance for the cost of the drain. If you need an invoice for a claim, we'll provide one. Either way, you pay us on the day and claim back if covered.
It depends. A small amount of petrol in a diesel with a large amount of diesel already in the tank dilutes the contamination. But we'd always recommend calling us to assess — starting the engine with any amount of petrol in a diesel system risks damage. The drain is cheap compared to the alternative.
Yes — that's the most common scenario. Tell the forecourt staff what happened, move your car away from the pump if possible, and call us. We come directly to the petrol station.
We carry approved containers and transport the contaminated fuel for licensed disposal through a registered waste carrier. It's handled legally and properly — we don't tip it anywhere.
